Laminating and cutting

Your new lampshade is nearing completion. The task now is to laminate the fabric cut-out with the substrate foil. A steady hand cuts the parts to match and then glues the two materials together on one of our laminating machines. The result must be smooth and completely blister-free. And speaking of gluing: Up to four different kinds of adhesive may be used in the production of a lampshade: laminating adhesive, adhesive for rolling the top and bottom ring, adhesive for sealing the seam, and special adhesive for the border.

In our laminator one side of the cut foil is coated with white adhesive.

Through the movement of the rollers, the white adhesive is permanently in motion and therefore stays liquid. This ensures that irregularities between fabric and foil are avoided.
